About Me

Portrait of Rita Dachner

My name is Rita Dachner and I am a 36 year old Berliner. Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by different scripts and languages. Soon I started to read books printed in Fraktur. A little later, I learned to read the Sütterlin script with its beautifully curved, elegant letters.

However, after graduating from school with the German Abitur, I went into a totally different direction. I got a degree in a technical profession, while working on improving my English skills on the side.

Some time ago, I finally decided to become self-employed as a translator and to focus again on my passion for scripture and language. Whenever I talked about my idea to offer Sütterlin transliterations, I received positive feedback and was encouraged to put this plan into action. Now I am in the wonderful position of spending most of my working time doing something I really love.

There are so many things old documents can tell us, and I look forward to making these stories accessible for you.
